Cover of tech note: Resolving heterogeneous viral vector populations with the KaritroMP

Macro mass photometry (MMP) can resolve and quantify multiple particle populations, providing critical information about complex samples of adenoviral (AdV) and lentiviral vectors (LVV). Here, we demonstrate the principles behind the multiparametric measurements performed by the Karitro™ macro mass photometer, using beads for clarity. We also compared the results to nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA).

What you will learn, at a glance

  • The KaritroMP macro mass photometer uses multiparametric analysis to resolve and quantify populations in heterogeneous samples
  • By leveraging simultaneous single-particle measurements of size and contrast (a proxy for mass), macro mass photometry (MMP) provides far greater resolving power than NTA or DLS
  • MMP characterizes the size and contrast of each population, as well as its abundance
  • Its speed, low sample consumption, and ability to effectively resolve heterogeneous populations make MMP a powerful tool for characterizing large viral vectors, like AdV and LVV
